Thank you for contacting my office in regards to reports of human rights abuses in Spain.

As a country which holds individual liberty and basic human rights as fundamental principles, the United States should actively promote the advancement of human rights throughout the globe. When religious, ethnic or other groups face persecution and oppression, the United States must continue to act as a world leader in seeking freedom and respect for their rights. 

Be assured that I will continue to monitor reports of human rights abuses in Spain and will continue to work through diplomatic channels to voice our mutual concerns.
